FAQs

What is mold?

Although different types of molds are part of the natural environment, mold growth inside our homes should be avoided. Alternately, molds outdoors are a part of nature and break down dead organic matter such as fallen leaves and dead trees.

What conditions cause mold in my home?

High levels of humidity contribute to mold growth indoors. Most often, mold is discovered in the attic or the basement. If it is in your attic, you likely have insufficient ventilation trapping moist air produced in the house. Basements are contained underground spaces and by their nature more damp than those areas above ground level. Basements are also prone to water intrusion which will contribute to favorable mold conditions.

When do I need a professional to remediate the mold in my home?

The EPA states “if the moldy area is less than about 10 square feet (less than roughly a 3 ft. by 3 ft. patch), in most cases, you can handle the job yourself.” You may follow the guidelines on their website.

Typically though, if the mold was discovered during a real estate transaction, you will need to a professional to remediate mold.

What is an ozone treatment?

This is a 24 hour process in which several onsite generators raise the ozone level high enough to destroy and odors, VOCs, viruses, bacteria or allergens. All people, plants and pets must be removed. This process does not damage anything in your home.

How does a high level of ozone destroy odors, VOCs, viruses and bacteria?

This occurs on a molecular level. Commercial-grade generated ozone creates an extra oxygen molecule. This unstable O3 molecule attaches itself to other molecules present in the air or at the source effectively burning them out. Think of it as a SHOCK TREATMENT, completely resetting the space free of odors, VOCs, viruses or bacteria.

How long after the Ozone Treatment is it safe to be in my home?

It takes about an hour to purge the air in the house matching the indoor and outdoor air quality. After that, you are all set to enjoy your home!
